Summary

A practical review of recent official AdSense updates, checked on October 30, 2026. Start with the changes relevant to your site's formats and audience.

What changed most recently?

Checked on October 30, 2026 against Google's official announcements and policy change log. These are selected recent changes, followed by a suggested review routine.

October 22: Video inventory clarification

Google's policy change log lists an October 22 update removing two placement requirements for Accompanying Content: loading within the page body, and starting a sticky player in the main content before transitioning on scroll. Restricted inventory may still receive fewer ads.

Practical takeaway: if your site monetizes video, ask whoever maintains the player to compare its implementation with the current restrictions. Do not treat a placement clarification as permission for every video format.

October 15: TCF errors moved

Google moved TCF error reporting into Policy center → Regulatory issue. The old standalone download is gone. This concerns consent strings accompanying ad requests from the EEA, UK and Switzerland.

Suggested routine: bookmark the new location and record each issue's exact wording before investigating. A missing report in the old menu is not evidence that an issue has been resolved.

Google's consent controls announcement explains fallback consent collection through Maximize message coverage and message selection through Optimize consent message. Most accounts have both enabled by default. Fully opting out of optimization also requires disabling message coverage.

Before changing anything, note your current settings and which messages appear on your pages. For a Malaysian publisher, check the audience you actually serve rather than assuming your own location describes every visitor.

A manageable monthly review

This is an editorial checklist, rather than a Google requirement:

  1. Read the latest announcement dates and policy log.
  2. Match each update to formats and audiences on your site.
  3. Save a short before-and-after record for settings you change.
  4. Check a real article on mobile and desktop after the change.

FAQs

Where are TCF errors reported now?

Google moved them to the Policy center under Regulatory issue on October 15, 2026.

Does the video update apply to every blog?

Review it if you monetize video inventory. A text article with ordinary display ads is a different implementation.
